Does the phrase, “Mother Nature,” bug you as much as it does me? Who is in control anyway? God or Mother Nature?
I can’t believe I heard it again today on the news, “Mother Nature unleased her wrath again today!” They were talking about the awful tornados that tore their way across the country. Every time there is some unusual weather event someone called, “Mother Nature,” gets the blame or credit. Who is this Mother Nature anyway?
The dictionary says: Mother Nature, noun
“The personification of nature as a powerful and nurturing woman.”
Nature is everything that is not man-made according to the dictionary. Therefore, nature is God made.
Wikipedia says:
“Mother Nature is a personification of nature.”
Every time we get tornados, hurricaines, blizzards, floods, and other weather woes the news and weather media blame it all on Mother Nature. Not only that, but when we have wonderful weather and a beautiful day they say something like, “Mother Nature smiled on us today with this warm weather.” She gets the credit and the glory. So, what is the real story?
God says in Exodus 20:3, NASB “You shall have no other gods before Me.” This is one of the ten commandments, and is serious business.
God is to be praised and worshipped. Not other gods. We in our nation are getting very careless in this area. When we hear the phrase, “Mother Nature”, used over and over it becomes common. We use it without thinking of the true meaning behind it. Most of us wouldn’t intentionally praise another god.
Did you know that God is in control of the weather not Mother Nature?
The Bible has a lot to say about God and how He controls the weather.
(Psalms 78:26 NASB) He caused the east wind to blow in the heavens And by His power He directed the south wind.
(Psalms 107:25 NASB) For He spoke and raised up a stormy wind, Which lifted up the waves of the sea.
(Psalms 135:7 NASB) He causes the vapors to ascend from the ends of the earth; Who makes lightnings for the rain, Who brings forth the wind from His treasuries.
(Psalms 148:8 NASB) Fire and hail, snow and clouds; Stormy wind, fulfilling His word;
(Proverbs 30:4 NASB) Who has ascended into heaven and descended? Who has gathered the wind in His fists? Who has wrapped the waters in His garment? Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is His name or His son’s name? Surely you know!
(Mark 4:39 NASB) And He got up and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Hush, be still.” And the wind died down and it became perfectly calm.
God created the Heavens and the Earth and He controls the weather. So, you may ask, “Why does God allow this terrible weather to cause us all kinds of problems?” The answer is that God is Sovereign. He can do whatever He wants. He is in control and nothing gets by Him.
Have you ever stopped to think that God allows bad things to happen to our nation to get our attention? We have lost our moral footing. In our society today anything goes. The news certainly validates this. There used to be sin and shame, but it has been replaced with nothing is right or wrong.
But, God says:
(Colossians 3:5 NASB) Therefore consider the members of your earthly body as dead to immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed, which amounts to idolatry.
(Colossians 3:6 NASB) For it is because of these things that the wrath of God will come upon the sons of disobedience,
“The sovereignty of God is that golden sceptre in his hand by which he will make all bow, either by his word or by his works, by his mercies or by his judgements.” Thomas Brooks
The world says, “You can’t fool Mother Nature.” I say, “You can’t fool God.” He is still there, He is in control, and He holds us in the palm of His hand. We need to cry out for mercy!

It’s quite sad that one can’t express his or her thoughts without someone resulting to name calling and put downs. There are many different religions and cultures to understand. You cannot call yourself a Christian if you (anonymous) are going around yelling your beliefs at people. Who will listen to you if you are screaming at them? Shoving your beliefs down peoples throats only makes them wonder why anyone would want to be a Christian when you shout and beat people down with your beliefs. If you believe that Rip has it all wrong then it is your duty to pray for him and encourage him as we are all brothers and sisters in Christ, right? I don’t mean to push buttons but this is just my opinion.

Why would a deity who is all powerful and all loving condemn its creatures to an eternity of hell fire and damnation?
God created the Heavens and earth. He is in control, all sovereign, powerful and loving. God made everything and He is in charge. He set up the way things would work. He made up the rules and He had a right to do that as creator. He knows more than we do.
Isaiah 29:16 NASB
16 You turn things around! Shall the potter be considered as equal with the clay, That what is made would say to its maker, “He did not make me”; Or what is formed say to him who formed it, “He has no understanding”?
If man had not sinned then God would not have had to condemn some to hell. When sin entered the world in the Garden, man fell, sin enterd in. God said, “the wages of sin is death.” After that all who were born had the sin nature which put us all on the road to hell.
The reason that was necessary was because God is holy and He cannot look upon sin. If He wanted fellowship and a personal relationship with the mankind He created He had to find a way to conquer sin.
It was actually man who condemned himself to hell by sinning in the firs place. That was what was handed down to all of us. We did the condeming not God. What God did was make a way of escape from hell. In other words, when a person is born they are already on the road to an eternity in hell. If they do not choose to turn to Jesus Christ and make Him Lord of their life, they will continue down that same road. However, if they do choose to turn from their sin and turn to Christ, they will be saved from hell and be in Heaven for eternity. It’s really that simple.
Too many people have looked to their own selves for salvation. Their pride gets in the way and they believe all kinds of things, that are not true. Some think they are more intelligent and know more than God and the Bible.
Here is what God says about people like that:
Romans 1:18-25 NASB
18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness,
19 because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them.
20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse.
21 For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
22 Professing to be wise, they became fools,
23 and exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and crawling creatures.
24 Therefore God gave them over in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, so that their bodies would be dishonored among them.
25 For they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.
Verse 19 says, “it is evident within them.” God has sovereignly planted evidence of His existence in the very nature of man by reason and moral law.
Verse 20 says, “they are without excuse.” God holds all men responsible for their refusal to acknowledge what He has shown them of Himself in creation.
Making up false religions for oneself is really worshipping self. It is idolitry. Pride was the downfall of Satan and it is the downfall of man.

Yes, that is what He did. We might think that is unfair, but who are we to tell GOD what to do? He is GOD and He has a right to do what ever He wishes.
In the beginning when God created man there wasn’t any sin in the world. But, when Adam disobeyed God then sin entered the world. Because we are all heirs of Adam, we all received the sin nature. It was handed down to us.
Thas is why we need a Savior. God is holy and cannot look upon sin. That is why we need a Savior. We need someone to come between us and God and bridge the gap. Jesus Christ did that for us when He died for our sins. You see, God said, “The wages of sin is death.” So, we needed someone to pay that debt to God.
So, GOD did make a way for us to get out of the mess Adam left us in.

This is ridiculous that we should just accept that every innocent baby who is born into this world, who can’t speak or understand or fend for themselves or indeed have any kind of impact on the world other than a positive one is born a sinner! You defend your god with such devotion that you are blinded to the points that are so so wrong. What god, who wants to see positive progression for the world he created and the beings within it, would want to condemn each and every human born, without first giving them a chance to see who they become in their own right. In effect, God would be doing something which we all class to be immoral. Should our children suffer the sins of their parents or should they be judged on their own path? We’ve all heard how someone who is constantly referred to as ‘bad’ will inevitably become that way because a label sticks – it can be way more powerful than a humans own self belief. We all know this. We know that the best way to nurture our children is to show them undoubted belief in themselves and remind them that we ‘know’ they are good people who can do great things. You tell a person they are bad often enough, they start to believe it. So God is condemning every innocent child before they even have chance to take their first breath! How are you so OK with that. According to the Bible, God does not lead by example. He is all those things which he says we can not be. A jealous being who will unleash death on the innocent to rid the world of a few bad weeds. It is contradictory and a poor effort at creating rules for society to live by if you ask me. I do believe in a higher power (we’d be foolish not to) but i don’t believe in a book written on gossip. It’s like a game of Chinese whispers. Nevermind the fact that one persons interpretation can be very different to another. Going back to your initial point; if god can do whatever he wishes the. He can choose not to follow the path, he can choose to change too. He could wipe the slate clean and lift the sins so wrongly placed on us. He could then have a close reIationship and touch the hearts of many right from the beginning, just like a nurturing parent. Now do You See why people talk about Mother Nature? Because she is all caring and all balanced. What you put into life, you get in return. There are no harsh judgements, just cause and effect. Respect the Earth and she will respect you. God will see that I have lived my life with kindness, that one less person has lived to help not hinder, that I make mistakes but want to learn from them to be a better person. If my devotion to this cause is overshadowed merely by the way I choose to achieve this (a disagreement in approach) then I’m not sure what to think other than he is more concerned in his own pride and control rather than the end result. I just don’t believe that god would rule in this way. I believe he makes mistakes like we all do and that he too can learn from them. That’s what Mother Nature does. She continuously evolves to keep the world functioning as best as possible all whilst still sticking to the fundamentals. You know where you stand with that. There is no written rule book. You can literally feel it through your bones, through your skin and heart and mind. You know instantly when something isn’t right. You feel the goodness with such immensity it is hard to ignore – who would want to? You don’t need language or interpretation with mother nature – there are no barriers no matter where in the world you are. No religion struggle, no power wars, no arguments over right and wrong because it just IS…..

Wow… now that is a christian if i have ever heard one. Jesus like. Fantastic. Sorry that you are so ____off that you cannot argue with any sort of human decency on the topic at hand. Maybe try to ponder the questions I ask as legitimate questions that might be asked by a human who is confused and curious about life. Don’t shut down, close your mind, and back into a defense mechanism of skewed “christian” thinking.

SO i suggest you go back to your theories that seem to change one million times each 10 years and hope to buggery God is not around….The bible was written by man inspired by god and 40 authors NEVER seeing each other over 400 years… mmm interesting. Have you not read the book of moses wich says later of the 10 commandments.It explains the reasons why and how about inter relations and the begining and the present. Did I Imagine Mother Nature, or am I alive? I certainly think that I am alive… it is sunny outside. Did God create us in his image or did some cleaver human in the past invent that to serve his own purpose? What does “God” look like???
What goes around comes around… Karma. I recognize that. That is between human beings, and the universe in which we inhabit.
