Does the phrase, “Mother Nature,” bug you as much as it does me? Who is in control anyway? God or Mother Nature?
I can’t believe I heard it again today on the news, “Mother Nature unleased her wrath again today!” They were talking about the awful tornados that tore their way across the country. Every time there is some unusual weather event someone called, “Mother Nature,” gets the blame or credit. Who is this Mother Nature anyway?
The dictionary says: Mother Nature, noun
“The personification of nature as a powerful and nurturing woman.”
Nature is everything that is not man-made according to the dictionary. Therefore, nature is God made.
Wikipedia says:
“Mother Nature is a personification of nature.”
Every time we get tornados, hurricaines, blizzards, floods, and other weather woes the news and weather media blame it all on Mother Nature. Not only that, but when we have wonderful weather and a beautiful day they say something like, “Mother Nature smiled on us today with this warm weather.” She gets the credit and the glory. So, what is the real story?
God says in Exodus 20:3, NASB “You shall have no other gods before Me.” This is one of the ten commandments, and is serious business.
God is to be praised and worshipped. Not other gods. We in our nation are getting very careless in this area. When we hear the phrase, “Mother Nature”, used over and over it becomes common. We use it without thinking of the true meaning behind it. Most of us wouldn’t intentionally praise another god.
Did you know that God is in control of the weather not Mother Nature?
The Bible has a lot to say about God and how He controls the weather.
(Psalms 78:26 NASB) He caused the east wind to blow in the heavens And by His power He directed the south wind.
(Psalms 107:25 NASB) For He spoke and raised up a stormy wind, Which lifted up the waves of the sea.
(Psalms 135:7 NASB) He causes the vapors to ascend from the ends of the earth; Who makes lightnings for the rain, Who brings forth the wind from His treasuries.
(Psalms 148:8 NASB) Fire and hail, snow and clouds; Stormy wind, fulfilling His word;
(Proverbs 30:4 NASB) Who has ascended into heaven and descended? Who has gathered the wind in His fists? Who has wrapped the waters in His garment? Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is His name or His son’s name? Surely you know!
(Mark 4:39 NASB) And He got up and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Hush, be still.” And the wind died down and it became perfectly calm.
God created the Heavens and the Earth and He controls the weather. So, you may ask, “Why does God allow this terrible weather to cause us all kinds of problems?” The answer is that God is Sovereign. He can do whatever He wants. He is in control and nothing gets by Him.
Have you ever stopped to think that God allows bad things to happen to our nation to get our attention? We have lost our moral footing. In our society today anything goes. The news certainly validates this. There used to be sin and shame, but it has been replaced with nothing is right or wrong.
But, God says:
(Colossians 3:5 NASB) Therefore consider the members of your earthly body as dead to immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed, which amounts to idolatry.
(Colossians 3:6 NASB) For it is because of these things that the wrath of God will come upon the sons of disobedience,
“The sovereignty of God is that golden sceptre in his hand by which he will make all bow, either by his word or by his works, by his mercies or by his judgements.” Thomas Brooks
The world says, “You can’t fool Mother Nature.” I say, “You can’t fool God.” He is still there, He is in control, and He holds us in the palm of His hand. We need to cry out for mercy!

I consider myself a Christian, but frankly, where it regards the weather, I think God is a prick sometimes. I mean it, I think He’s a out & out prick.
I have to use the word “mother nature” because I don’t want to be chewing God Himself out, but stupid weather happens–and it is STUPID–and I think it ought to be called out as being stupid.
The main weather which bugs me–spring-time not being normal. Any weather which isn’t “normal” is, to me, wrong. I believe in the sovereignty of the seasons, and I consider it so serious I think adherence to the norms is how it ought to be, and if they don’t, then it’s WRONG, and I DON’T CARE if mother nature spoke it into existence. I think it’s WRONG. For example–cold “snaps” in spring. To me, spring-time weather should not resemble winter in anyway. Winter is OVER. it is SPRING now. Thus if you live somewhere where it typically gets up to 78’F in late April, then that’s how warm it should get–not 95’F or 55’F, but 78’F, period.
Instead too often in the spring it’s all over the place, and it’s stupid. I don’t care if mother nature ordered it, it WRONG. The calendar is nothing less than the BIBLE–it is SUPERIOR to mother nature with regards to what the weather should be for a given area. I should respect God’s sovereignty in this area, I actually do almost everywhere else, but it just makes no logical sense and I’m sorry but I can’t just turn off my brain on this one. During a season when it’s SUPPOSED to be around 78’F, for it to be 93’F or so one day and then barely cracking the 50s the next, that’s just WRONG, I don’t care if mother nature herself ordered it, He’s WRONG. It just doesn’t make any sense, and I think that if in fact God is behind all of this then He at the least owes us a logical explanation for such schizophrenic patterns or else He needs to step aside and let someone with some actual intelligence run the weather for awhile.

You mean mother nature(ever changing law) or mother earth(earth goddess)
Oh my this is strange… I shall give you a example, I got a Mom and dad, they’re loving, caring and some times punishes me… Even if someone created earth, then there is a issue here, didn’t earth create us? Didn’t god take dirt from the earth to make us or whatever he or she or maybe it did?
Mother+Father= parents= children
I feel sad for all, it’s like saying I hate/ love my Mom more then my Dad or the opposite…
A religious believer who thinks god(father) is more important then then mother earth(mother) is load of ****. You be thankful for both if you have faith, I will tell you something if you say god(father) made you alone that would be the same as… ah you know what it’s just to rude. I feel sad for those who thinks this way. *cough, thinking god is gay *cough punished* cough*
But yes laws of nature (mother nature) is like the strict boss who rules all laws, then I mean everything, which is strange you could call mother nature itself… Mother earth with the help of as many says god gave rise/ birth to their children, our ancestors (eve and adam).
We do not use the phrase father for such as earth and the nature, since to many sees god as the father, god is eternal… but not something which has all was been, everything has a beginning
But nature the laws itself is what you can call ever changing, it’s a ever changing law, it’s everything… which means it had no start, it ends never, and we do not know all of it’s laws, maybe call it mystery nature instead of mother nature?.

It would be a good argument if both of the things were real? Mother nature is just a personification of anything natural, the thing is “mother nature” is obviously going to get the credit because nature is real and god isn’t. Nothing can just suddenly make everything in 7 days.

God is of your own understanding and so is nature. Drop the hers and this his it confuses your mind because God and nature are not beings.

Interesting that there are “Suns” created 8 billion years before ours. So I guess your GOD must have created them but what took place between all that time? Shoots down down the theory that every thing was built in 6 days and on the 7th he rested. Of course it depends on what time standard you use. One Billion years is one day? So where is that in your precious book? So many myths and so many lies. Face reality and open your mind. He is MAN MADE! Created by MAN. Not the other way around.

Unfortunately Mr.Danny Faulkner lives in a world of pure myth and speculation. He claims the earth is only 6,000 years old just so he can match the Bible. Carbon dating is an exact science. We know life has been around much loner than that. Over 4 million years for Homo Sapiens and even longer for other living forms of life including.plants. In 2001, an ancient city in Iraq was found. Carbon dating of material shows human life 10,000 years before any other known civilization. So 6,000 years isn’t going to cut argument either.
The moon is 4,5 billion years old. We know that due toi carbon dating material returned. With the advent of the Hubble and several other space located instruments we are learning something every day about our universe. Nebula’s produce Suns, planets, and galaxies. Scientific fact.
So Bonlou, please believe in all the wishful thinking you want about where you came from and where you will go when you leave this world. Believe in all the junk science you want to match your scripture. The bottom line is all you read and what you strongly believe in is “Man Made” myth with occasional truth. And so is my science, my physics, my biology, my beliefs are also “Man Made”. But the difference is mine has been proven to be factual. Yes, we still have theories because we are still trying to prove them right or wrong. But we are proving it by experiments, mathematical calculations, and observations. Unlike those who merely read some scriptures or scrolls and think the world is rosy place and bury their head in the sand and will not face the reality of life itself. Appreciate what is around you. Soak in every living moment you have, every breath you take, and don’t waste your life worshiping what is non existent.. If you are like most deeply religious people which I think you are, you probably spend hours upon hours every month going to prayer meetings, church on Sunday, church activities during the week, and even this blog. This is wonderful you have something important in your life that gives you meaning to your life. For me I hike, play sports, enjoy my family, learn about all that is around me..I travel alot and explore places some people only dream about. I often step outside and simply take what nature this plane has given me. I do not waste my time worshiping an entity that simply does not exist nor reading material written by a superstitious culture that simply was not educated enough to understand the world around them. You might be insulted by that comment but in reality it was not Christians that gave the world most of the science we have to day. It was non-believers and non Christians who gave us the ability to freely think for ourselves. Chew on that statement for awhile.

A Catholic woman, interviewed on the ewtn Morning Sonrise show actually wrote an entire book on this, from the perspective of Mary and God being replaced by Mother Earth so those who had religion would not “miss” it when the New Age and Green Movement took over and replaced Religion with earth worship and government rule of our lives. I keep looking for the book.
