Does the phrase, “Mother Nature,” bug you as much as it does me? Who is in control anyway? God or Mother Nature?
I can’t believe I heard it again today on the news, “Mother Nature unleased her wrath again today!” They were talking about the awful tornados that tore their way across the country. Every time there is some unusual weather event someone called, “Mother Nature,” gets the blame or credit. Who is this Mother Nature anyway?
The dictionary says: Mother Nature, noun
“The personification of nature as a powerful and nurturing woman.”
Nature is everything that is not man-made according to the dictionary. Therefore, nature is God made.
Wikipedia says:
“Mother Nature is a personification of nature.”
Every time we get tornados, hurricaines, blizzards, floods, and other weather woes the news and weather media blame it all on Mother Nature. Not only that, but when we have wonderful weather and a beautiful day they say something like, “Mother Nature smiled on us today with this warm weather.” She gets the credit and the glory. So, what is the real story?
God says in Exodus 20:3, NASB “You shall have no other gods before Me.” This is one of the ten commandments, and is serious business.
God is to be praised and worshipped. Not other gods. We in our nation are getting very careless in this area. When we hear the phrase, “Mother Nature”, used over and over it becomes common. We use it without thinking of the true meaning behind it. Most of us wouldn’t intentionally praise another god.
Did you know that God is in control of the weather not Mother Nature?
The Bible has a lot to say about God and how He controls the weather.
(Psalms 78:26 NASB) He caused the east wind to blow in the heavens And by His power He directed the south wind.
(Psalms 107:25 NASB) For He spoke and raised up a stormy wind, Which lifted up the waves of the sea.
(Psalms 135:7 NASB) He causes the vapors to ascend from the ends of the earth; Who makes lightnings for the rain, Who brings forth the wind from His treasuries.
(Psalms 148:8 NASB) Fire and hail, snow and clouds; Stormy wind, fulfilling His word;
(Proverbs 30:4 NASB) Who has ascended into heaven and descended? Who has gathered the wind in His fists? Who has wrapped the waters in His garment? Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is His name or His son’s name? Surely you know!
(Mark 4:39 NASB) And He got up and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Hush, be still.” And the wind died down and it became perfectly calm.
God created the Heavens and the Earth and He controls the weather. So, you may ask, “Why does God allow this terrible weather to cause us all kinds of problems?” The answer is that God is Sovereign. He can do whatever He wants. He is in control and nothing gets by Him.
Have you ever stopped to think that God allows bad things to happen to our nation to get our attention? We have lost our moral footing. In our society today anything goes. The news certainly validates this. There used to be sin and shame, but it has been replaced with nothing is right or wrong.
But, God says:
(Colossians 3:5 NASB) Therefore consider the members of your earthly body as dead to immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed, which amounts to idolatry.
(Colossians 3:6 NASB) For it is because of these things that the wrath of God will come upon the sons of disobedience,
“The sovereignty of God is that golden sceptre in his hand by which he will make all bow, either by his word or by his works, by his mercies or by his judgements.” Thomas Brooks
The world says, “You can’t fool Mother Nature.” I say, “You can’t fool God.” He is still there, He is in control, and He holds us in the palm of His hand. We need to cry out for mercy!

the man and the woman were both made, and made in the image of the one who created.. whatever that represents about “God” is another discussion. God has made provision in nature. not bread alone, but bread included. God’s myriad aspects are reflected in creation, and nurture has feminine aspects. God is duality, has two camps. i don’t practice nature worship , or whatever, nor do i judge it, but if you love mother nature, love the source of it more. the creator is revealed within creation. have no doubt of that. Christ is the grand includer. and the sea refuses no river

This whole article is based on one erronous assumption:
“Nature is everything that is not man-made according to the dictionary. Therefore, nature is God made. ”
Mother nature is moved by her own will.

GOD is Man made! Man came up with the idea of having a GOD. Nature by itself is real. It exists with or without man. If Man dies nature continues. It was here before Man. If Man dies so does GOD. If you can’t understand that then you still live in the dark ages and believe in goblins and ghosts.

Hi – I don’t actually believe in goblins and ghosts for the record. But, where did nature come from? That’s my question. And, could you please define nature for me? Thanks.

You ask me to define Nature? OK here we go again. Another human being trying to get someone else to “redefine” what has already been accepted and yes fact. I won’t do it to just to satisfy a lame challenge to a belief . Per Webster:
na·ture/ˈnāCHər/
Noun:
The phenomena of the physical world collectively, including plants, animals, the landscape, and other features and products of the world around us.
The physical force regarded as causing and regulating these phenomena: “it is impossible to change the laws of nature”.
This is exactly the problem. Thousands of years ago people “wrote” what they perceived the world to be. Then along came men of science for which many were accused of being heritics, executed, or banished from the world only because people could not accept the world and life for what it is and only to discover they were right. In their mind present and past there has to be a GOD running it. Really? Why? The day you can see beyond “Genisis” in the Bible, is the day you will will awaken to the fact that the only thing that controls you and I and every thing in it, is “Nature” And just that… Nature. That is my GOD only for the sake of an argument that I have a GOD. Unforunetly devout religious followers can not see the truth beyond their own nose. For this statement I can supply tons of examples just from passesages in the Bible. But I’m sorry I will not waste my time. There will never be peace in this world as long as there is religion. History says it all. Just look at what the Christians and Muslums are doing to each other. Been happening for hundreds if not thousands if years and there is no end.

Questions: Where did nature (plants, animals, stars, etc.) come from? How does nature control us? Nature doesn’t have intellect, so we must be smarter than nature.
Do you know why there is no peace in the world? I don’t think it is because of religions butting up against each other. What if there were no religions? What then, would there be peace? I doubt it because mankind has the capability of being greedy, angry, selfish, and other faults that cause friction with each other. One person would want something the other had badly and they would kill for it. There can be no peace until their hearts are changed. And that can’t happen all by itself.
There is One who is called the “Prince of Peace” who can change hearts. You know, believing in Jesus as Lord and Savior that is not religion. It is faith. I believe in someone bigger than myself.

Getting along peacefully is a “way of life”. The Bible, Koran, and all the different scriptures written in all the other religions portray a “way of life”. And they all differ in what is and isn’t acceptable. Therefore there will always be conflict and war. Like water and oil. There is no divine intervention. Divine intervention is a man made concept. Man can not ascend to become a GOD. That’s only “your” belief, not mine. If that is what keeps you feeling safe and secure, so be it. As I have said before I have grown to a higher level of realization of what this world is, how it got here and where it is going. In 10,000 years humanity will not be around. History repeats its self, species on this planet come and go. If the human race is here 10,000 years from now who knows? We the living today will not be. But as life has evolved (difficult concept for you religious types) we will either be a super human race or some other advanced life form.

You are blaming conflict on religion. That isn’t that basis of conflict. It is man’s sinful heart. Most likely you don’t believe in sin either. By the way, I do not believe that man can ascend to become a God.
I wonder where you got your belief system? Did your parents ever take you to church? Just wondered.
I do feel safe and secure knowing that God is in control of everything. So whatever happens, happens and I accept that.
Did you read the book of John in the Bible as I suggested? Just wondered.

At one point early in my life I was a Deacon in a church I once belonged to. I have studied many religious philosophies since that time and am master of none. I do not proclaim to be an expert on any. Every time someone starts either quoting scripture or asks me to read some verse.I cringe. It just tells me that person has limited their thinking to only one concept of life and is not truly open to world around them. We live in a big world so go out an experience it before you attempt to profess yours is the only way. Biggest mistake among Christians today. Live among Muslims, Buddhist, or Hindu cultures only to name a few. And I mean live among them as I have. You can;t do it sitting at home either. Then maybe you’ll open your eyes and see life from a totally different prospective. And you might even become a free thinker not confined to the writings of the Bible. In other words, I don’t need John, Luke, Mathew, Mohamud, or even Buddha to guide me through my life. I think for myself on an entirely different level. And considering I can not convince you nor can you convince me its a “draw”, Have a happy life. Peace.
