Golden Autumn

Are you stressed out?  Are you anxious and fearful?  Do you want to be at peace?  Do you realize that your finding peace has everything to do with faith? Without faith you will not become free from anxiety. I can say that with certainty.

God has given us many promises in the Bible and we need them to live the type of victorious Christian life He wants for us.  But, in order to make those promises active in our own lives we must have faith.  It must be the right kind of faith.

First we need to believe in God.  Second believe in the finished work of Jesus Christ, His son, and third believe that the Word of God is true.  Then, we must take God at His Word.  When He says something, believe it, stand on it, and know that God will not let you down.

We need to apply our faith (in Christ) to the problem of fear and anxiety. We can do this.

We can see God’s handiwork in creation all around us.  That is a good example of something that can help us.  When we get those thoughts of fear and anxiety, we can refocus our minds by taking a good look around us.  We can see God’s handiwork and give thanks and praise to God for his creation, and in doing that we can turn off our stressful thoughts and replace them with God honoring ones.  Do you see how this can help you?

I’m not just coming up with some theory, but I’ve actually done this in my own life so I know.

Also, faith in and of itself has no value. There has to be an object to your faith.  And, that is Jesus.  It is because of Him that we can have faith.  Faith is a gift of God given to us to enable us to know Him and live our Christian lives.

Colossians 1:4 “For we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus (the leaning of our entire human personality on Him in absolute trust and confidence in His power, wisdom and goodness) …  Amplified Bible.

I love this Amplified version of the Bible as it brings out what is clearly said in the scripture.

I want to challenge you today.  Do you have that kind of faith?  Is it in Christ Jesus only?  Do you have absolute trust and confidence in His power, wisdom and goodness?

I also want to warn you that there are a lot of teachings out there today that are not truly Biblical.  One such false teaching is the prosperity gospel.  They declare that if you have enough faith you can be rich, and healthy, and have whatever you want.  Do you want a new car?  They say “just believe for it.”  This is a “faith in faith,” kind of thing.  It is almost like having faith in yourself, that you have enough faith to make things happen, or enough faith to make God do something.  That is not scriptural.  We cannot make God do anything, and we shouldn’t try.

So, let’s be sure that we truly understand what God is talking about when he tells us to have faith, live by faith, and walk by faith.

For more study on faith read Hebrews Chapter 11.

The natural creation brings Glory to God!

Psalm 19:1 reads:

“The heavens declare the glory of God, and the firmament shows and proclaims His handiwork. ”  Amplified Bible

God’s handiwork is all around us.  What a amazing sight it is to go out on a dark night and go to a place where there are no street lights. The stars all shine so brightly, it is breathtaking.  They seem to just hang there in the sky waiting for someone to come by and pick a bouquet.  You marvel at all the constellations and wonder why God placed them in that particular order.

There are so many thousands of stars it is overwhelming, and yet we know  God made them all and put them in place.  The heavens also declare his glory in the sun and moon.

What about a rainbow?  Again…when you see something so beautiful as that you know there is a God in Heaven.  Our wonderful creator.

I love living in the country.  We can get out and see all kinds of natural beauty that God has created.  Mountains, valleys, lakes, streams, trees, flowers, animals, and the list goes on and on.  And to think God made all that for our enjoyment.  Isn’t that a marvelous thought?

In the evening God gives us brilliant sunsets.  Oh what a joy they are. Pictured above is one that we saw on a beautiful October evening. It was taken off our deck.  To me that is God’s signature on a wondrous day.

As we take a walk and observe creation we can give God glory for all He has done.  It’s an amazing time of fellowship and is actually worship of God.

If we take a look at  Romans 1:18-20 we can see that God has revealed Himself through creation and man is without excuse.  Man can deny there is a God, but he is only deceiving himself.  The evidence of God is all around us.  Praise the Lord!

What does God want us to know?

Isaiah 1:18, “Come now, let us reason together,” says the Lord.  “Though
your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow…”We have all sinned.  We are naturally bent toward sin.

Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”

Do you agree with God’s Word that says you are a sinner?
   What does sin earn us?

Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is
eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Because God is Holy and without sin He cannot accept us the way we
are.  That is why He sent is only Son, Jesus Christ, to take our place
and die on the cross for our sins. He paid the price for us. (John 3:16)

Who is the Lord Jesus Christ?

He is God’s Son. He is Lord. He is fully man and He is fully God.

John 10:30, “…I and the Father are one.”

What must we do to be saved?

Acts 3:19 “Repent then and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped
out…”
Acts 16:31 “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved…”

What do we need to believe?

The Gospel (good news) message.
I Corinthians 15: 3-4 “For I delivered unto you first of all that which
I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the
scriptures.  And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third
day according to the scriptures.”

   Will you respond to God?

Romans 10: 9-10 “That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and
believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be
saved.  For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified,
and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.”

We must confess (agree with God in prayer) with our mouth, Jesus is
who God says He is, and believe in our hearts (not just head knowledge)
that He was raised from the dead.  Then we can have assurance that after
our life ends here on this earth we will continue to live on in Heaven
forever.

   Will you pray this prayer?

“Dear God, I realize that I am a lost sinner. I’m sorry for the
sinful things I have done in my life and want to get right with you.
Thank you for sending your Son, Jesus, to die on the cross for the
payment of my sin.  I know that after He died He was buried and on the
third day He rose from the grave.  I know He is now alive and with you
in Heaven.  I want to make Jesus Christ Lord of my life, and turn the
reins over to Him.   I  ask you, God, to accept me right now just as I
am.  In Jesus’ name.  Amen.”

Here is another wonderful Christian hymn.  For myself, I know things are much different since Jesus came into my heart.  Things are not always easy, but I do have a peace deep down inside that passes understanding.  I guess it is because I have made peace with God.  He has filled the emptyness with Himself and has given me a new hope for life beyond this one.  Have you taken this step also?To hear this hymn click on the MIDI file below.

Words:  Rufus H. McDaniel, 1914. McDaniel wrote these words after the death of his son.      Music:  Charles H. Gabriel, 1914  (MIDI, score).

What a wonderful change in my life has been wrought
Since Jesus came into my heart!
I have light in my soul for which long I had sought,
Since Jesus came into my heart!

Refrain

Since Jesus came into my heart,
Since Jesus came into my heart,
Floods of joy o’er my soul
Like the sea billows roll,
Since Jesus came into my heart.

I have ceased from my wandering and going astray,
Since Jesus came into my heart!
And my sins, which were many, are all washed away,
Since Jesus came into my heart!

Refrain

I’m possessed of a hope that is steadfast and sure,
Since Jesus came into my heart!
And no dark clouds of doubt now my pathway obscure,
Since Jesus came into my heart!

Refrain

There’s a light in the valley of death now for me,
Since Jesus came into my heart!
And the gates of the City beyond I can see,
Since Jesus came into my heart!

Refrain

I shall go there to dwell in that City, I know,
Since Jesus came into my heart!
And I’m happy, so happy, as onward I go,
Since Jesus came into my heart!

Refrain
